Privacy & data protection
In short: when you book a test ride, the dealership is responsible for your data and TryRide processes it on its behalf. We collect only what the booking and the rental contract need, protect it (licence and ID numbers and signatures are encrypted; contracts and photos are kept in private storage), never sell it, and use analytics only if you allow it.
Who we are
TryRide is an online platform that dealerships use to offer and manage test rides. It is operated by Miloš Hampl (referred to as "TryRide" or "we"), who you can reach at miloshampl@hotmail.cz.
Who is responsible for your data depends on how you use TryRide:
- If you book a test ride, the dealership you book with ("the Dealer") is the controller of your data, and TryRide processes it on the Dealer's behalf as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR). The Dealer's name and contact details are on its booking page.
- If you use TryRide as a dealership (as an owner or a team member) or visit TryRide's public pages, TryRide is the controller of that data.
We comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and, for users in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR.
When you book a test ride
What is collected: your name, email, phone number and address; your driving-licence and identity-document numbers; the vehicle, date and time; and, at the dealership, the rental contract you sign (including your handwritten signature), odometer readings and photos of the vehicle's condition before and after the ride. If you scan a document with the in-app camera, the image is processed on your device only and is never uploaded.
Why, and on what legal basis:
- to arrange, confirm, change or cancel your test ride and to contact you about it — performance of a contract or steps taken before entering into one (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR);
- to prepare, sign and keep the rental contract and to check that you may drive the vehicle — performance of the contract and the Dealer's legitimate interest in protecting its vehicle and handling any damage (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f));
- to meet legal obligations, for example accounting and tax rules (Art. 6(1)(c)).
You provide this data to make a booking; without it the Dealer can't lend you the vehicle. There is no profiling or automated decision-making (Art. 22), and your data is never sold or used for advertising.
How long it is kept: only as long as needed for your test ride and the rental contract, and afterwards for as long as the Dealer must or may keep it — for example to deal with claims about the vehicle within the statutory limitation periods, or to meet accounting rules. Data that is no longer needed is deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
Your rights: exercise them with the Dealer (contact details are on its page); TryRide helps the Dealer respond. You can also write to us and we will pass your request on.
When you use TryRide as a dealership
What we collect: account details (name, email and password — stored only as a secure hash — or your Google sign-in); your shop's details (name, address, phone, email, company ID, branding); your team's accounts and roles; and technical records needed for security (sign-ins, IP address and device type, and logs of privileged access). If paid plans are introduced, payment details are handled by our payment provider.
Why, and on what legal basis:
- to provide the Service under our Terms of Service (Art. 6(1)(b));
- to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and improve it — our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f));
- to send service messages such as booking notifications, security notices and changes to our terms (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)), and occasional news about TryRide features, which you can unsubscribe from at any time (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f));
- to keep billing and tax records once paid plans exist — legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).
How long it is kept: while your account exists and for up to 12 months afterwards to settle open matters, unless the law requires longer (tax and accounting records: up to 10 years). Security records are kept for up to 12 months.
Website visitors and cookies

Analytics cookies — only if you allow them in the cookie banner or under "Cookie settings" (at the bottom of every public page):
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) on TryRide's public pages, to understand how visitors find and use the site and how many dealerships sign up. Cookies
_gaand_ga_<ID>(up to 2 years). Advertising features and Google signals are off; we never send names, emails or booking or account details, and pages with personal data (sign-in, dashboards, reservations) are never measured. - For these statistics TryRide is the controller and the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time under "Cookie settings"; withdrawing also deletes the analytics cookies.
There are no advertising cookies.
When you report a problem
If you use "Report a problem", we receive your message, the email address you give us (or your account email if you're signed in) and technical details to help us fix it: the page address with private links and search terms removed, your browser, screen size, language, time zone, approximate country, app version and recent errors on the page. TryRide is the controller; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a working service and answering you (Art. 6(1)(f)). We keep reports only as long as needed to resolve them. To prevent abuse we also keep a pseudonymous record of each report (a one-way hash of the sending network address and the page).
Who else processes the data
We use carefully selected service providers ("sub-processors"), each bound by a data-processing agreement:
- Vercel — application hosting
- Neon — database
- Google Cloud — encrypted file storage in the EU (rental contracts, vehicle photos)
- Resend — email delivery
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd.) — only with your consent
- a payment provider, once paid plans are introduced
We may change providers as the Service grows. We keep this list up to date and notify Dealers of changes in advance (see the Terms of Service). Some providers are based in the United States; such transfers are protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (and their UK equivalents).
We don't sell personal data, and we disclose it to authorities only where the law requires.
How it's protected
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Driving-licence and identity numbers and signatures are additionally encrypted at rest, and rental contracts and vehicle condition photos are kept in private storage. Each dealership sees only its own data, its team's access is role-based, and every time TryRide staff open a dealership's admin (for support, security or to keep the service running) it is logged.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing, to data portability and to object (we always honour an objection to direct marketing). Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what was done before. You can also complain to a supervisory authority — in the Czech Republic the Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.cz), in the United Kingdom the ICO (ico.org.uk), or the authority where you live or work. For bookings, contact the Dealer; for anything else, contact us at miloshampl@hotmail.cz.
Children
TryRide is meant for adults — a test ride requires a valid driving licence. We don't knowingly collect children's data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as TryRide evolves, for example when we add features, change providers or introduce paid plans. The date below shows the current version, and we tell dealerships about material changes by email or in the app before they take effect.
